FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES
The Unit comprises of 3 rooms, namely:
- The Counselling Room,
- The Insertion room, and
- The Changing Room.
Family Planning Unit renders and provides the following services to the post-operative VVF patients, the prolapse patients and the general public:
- Counselling
- Condom dispensing (male and female)
- Oral pills (Microgynon, Exluton)
- Injectables (Depo-provera, Sayana Press, Noristerat)
- Implant insertion

Family Planning Session
- Insertion of Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUD)
- Implant removal
- IUD removal
It is of interest to note that family planning services at National Obstetric Fistula Centre, Abakaliki is free of charge, except for removal of implants where a token amount is paid for consumables.
